We did it for Tom!
Adam Kendrew
Hey guys. Hope you are all well!
It was a fantastic day at Castle Howard last Saturday, the sun was shining and the water temperature was a nice 25C. There was some fantastic times by the team too, with our technician Dan managing to finish the course in a superb 1 hour 41 minutes while I (Adam) finished in 2 hour 24 minutes! As you can see we are proudly wearing our Tom Hairyes shirts.
We also had our very good friend Steve Ball with us who is raising money for the Guide Dogs For The Blind as part of his Captain's Charity pledge at Calverley Golf Club; he managed to finish in 2 hours and 9 minutes. Well done Steve!
Here are a few of our other pictures from the day;
It was always our plan to take part in the triathlon, having signed up in December of last year. However it was never our plan to be running in the memory of our close friend Tom Hairyes. However, it was such an honour and we are pleased to say we have raised a massive £300 in just a few weeks! This money will go directly to the Hairyes family towards a memorial bench for Tom that will be placed within the Wortley area.
But...myself and Dan didn't want to leave the funds raised at £300. We have decided to match the money raised by 50% which means we have raised a total of £450! That's absolutely amazing and we can't thank you enough for all your support. The one part I will always remember from the day, was when I was coming to the end of the run and a spectator shouted "come on keep it going, Tom would have been proud". You definitely would have mate, seeing as I crawled over the finish line!
Rest in peace buddy, everybody down here misses you.
