As you may know, we sponsor a local 6 a side football team who play down at Crawshaw High School in Pudsey. One of our players, Jack, was recently told the news that his 14 year old brother, George, had been diagnosed with leukaemia. Now we all know the effects cancer has on both the person and their family and friends. To see what George, Jack and his family are going through is hard...and we want to help as much as we can.
When cancer happens to somebody you know, it really hits home the effects that the disease has.
Everybody is trying to raise money in their own unique ways in order to help support George and his family through this hard time. Jack and a few of his close friends will be shaving their hair for charity within the coming money, to raise money for the Candle Lighters Charity. They are also raising money to donate towards the ward that George will be staying on throughout his treatment, L33.
So we are asking, you our customers, to donate even the smallest amount if possible. This money will not only go towards helping George's recovery, it will also help many other children across the Yorkshire area. Candle Lighters help to support both children and their families throughout the journey to recovery and is run by parents of children who have had to go through what George and his family are facing. They understand the trauma and the turmoil of that diagnosis and how the support and care needed may differ from family to family.
The money will help to fund things such as weekly takeaway nights for all the patients on the ward in addition to Xbox and Playstation consoles to ensure the children's stay is as joyful as possible. Things like this would simply not be possible without people's generous donations.
